One of North Lincolnshire’s best known restaurant owners has retired and the doors to his popular Brigg eatery have been closed for the final time
Harry Kar, who came to the town in 1978, has closed his business at the Kar Restaurant in Old Courts Road and so far no-one has bought it.
But the 63-year-old plans to stay in the local area and will continue to live in Hibaldstow.
“I have mixed feelings - some of relief and a kind of homesick feeling,” he told the Market Rasen Mail.
“I shall miss it, of that there is no doubt, and I have lots of good memories to look back on.
“Brigg has been very good to me.
“The restaurant is closing and that means it is a very sad day.
“I have built the restaurant up over the years and a lot of my customers will miss coming here. I will miss them too.”
The Kar has been the venue in recent years for a number of high-profile events, including the Brigg Civic Banquet.
And Harry has had a long association with other organisations who have dined there, including Brigg Rotary Club of which he has been a long-time member.
