A new £1m Co-op food store is set to open its doors this Friday- on the site of the former Lord Nelson pub.
Ten jobs have been created at the 3,000 sq ft outlet in Market Rasen Road, which will house an in-store bakery, lottery and an ATM machine. There are 17 car parking spaces, plus two disabled spaces.
The store opens to the public at 7am on Friday, October 24 and its normal opening hours will be 7am to 10pm, seven days a week.
An official opening ceremony for invited guests takes place tomorrow, where a £250 donation will be made to the Dunholme Jambusters WI Society.
Committee members from the Friends of Dunholme St Chad’s Primary CE School – the store’s first Community Champion – will be attending with school children who will be singing.
Development Manager Matthew Wilkinson said: “As a co-operative, we share all our profits with the local community and part of that is investing in and improving our services.”
However, the store had been opposed by many villagers.“After meeting with them, we reworked the design of the store and we hope they’re pleased with how well it fits in,” he said.
