A fantastic summer for gardens - that was the sentiment expressed by allotment holders and gardeners of Brigg as the Town Council held its summer gardening awards ceremony.

And the results were: Best Kept Garden Competition and winner of the Louis T Jarratt Memorial Rose Bowl, a certificate and a voucher for £50 for Brigg Garden Centre - Colin Flint of Highfield Grove, Brigg, second place certificate and a voucher for £30 for Brigg Garden Centre – Mick and Doris Green of O’Hanlon Avenue, third place certificate and a voucher for £20 for Brigg Garden Centre – Tom and Maureen Glossop of St Helen’s Road.

In the Best Kept Allotment, judges awarded the first prize to the tenant of Plot 1, Grammar School Road, Frank Cooper, who was presented with the Mary Robins Memorial Rose Bowl, a certificate and a voucher for £50 for Brigg Garden Centre.

This year’s allotment judge was Vic Bowness, President of Barnetby Horticultural Society.
