Retiring Brigg Town Mayor James Truepenny presented a cheque for £1,095 to the Brigg group for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The money was amassed from the mayor’s charity appeal during his year in office.

The presentation took place before the monthly town council meeting in the Angel Suite.

Collecting the cheque on behalf of the Brigg group were Gerry Hartley, Anne Bush, Barbara White and Kathryn Gardner, who are pictured above with Coun Truepenny.

Also attending was Jamie Davenport of Macmillan Cancer Care, who is manager for the Lincolnshire area.

“We are extremely grateful to the town and the mayor,” he said. “We rely very much on donations like this.”

Brigg and District Macmillan Cancer Support Group holds a number of events throughout the year.

Recently, they teamed up with Brigg ladies’ clothing shop ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ for a fundraising fashion show in the Angel Suite.
