Bad weather means trail opening is postponed

THE LINDSEY Trail opening ceremony due to take place this Sunday has been postponed due to the bad weather.

The new countryside trail was due to be officially opened by MP Edward Leigh in Willingham Woods on Sunday, April 29 at 11am.

The Lindsey Trail through the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a 69 mile circular route which can be used by carriage drivers, horse riders, cyclists and walkers.

The trail, which goes as far south as Horncastle, mainly uses the existing public highway network incorporating both surfaced and unsurfaced quiet lanes, byways and restricted byways.

Lincolnshire County Council’s senior countryside access officer Andy Savage said: “The Lindsey Trail opening ceremony has been postponed as a result of the inclement weather which has been forecast for this coming Sunday.

“This decision has been taken in the interests of rider safety. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.”
