Market Rasen is going to be alive with the sound of music this summer as the town becomes part of a national music festival.
Our Big Gig is a community music celebration showcasing local talent and aims to get more people involved in music making.
Local independent organiser Brian Sankey is enthusiastic about the project and says he is hitting the ground running.
“There are only eight weeks to get things sorted,” he said.
“If all the initial contacts I made when I applied for the town to be part of Our Big Gig follow through, it will be a fantastic event - there is no limit to what we can do.”
The event on Saturday July 13 will be multi-venue and multi-genre, to get all ages involved.
“It is a free event and will involve hands-on workshops as well as performances,” added Brian.
“Everyone from beginners to accomplished musicians are welcome to take part.
“The important thing is for people to turn out and support it - it is ok putting performances on, but they need an audience too.”
Brian is also hoping to run a musical instrument amnesty.
“Lots of people have instruments at home they don’t play or no longer want.
“It would be good to collect these in and redistribute them to a cause that would use them for what they should be used for.”
