MARKET Rasen's youth club is closed until further notice while youth workers carry out research to see just what the young people of the town want.

A notice on the door of the club informs youngsters turning up there that workers will be out in the town and on the school site, canvassing young people.

No explanation has been given on why it was necessary to close the youth club to carry out this research.
Steve Bunney, town councillor and boarding master at De Aston, said he was glad some activity was taking place. "However, I am disappointed there's no place for the young people to meet and socialise in the meanwhile."
County Coun Ken Bridger will be in a meeting on June 2 to discuss with officials the future of the youth club in the town.

Senior youth development worker Kim Gray said: "The youth club will reopen. However, the best way to develop it should be based on the needs of the young people.

"With that in mind our youth workers will be engaging with young people on the school site and in the town on Monday evenings to get their views and opinions on what they would like to see from the youth club.

There will then be an information evening for people interested in supervising the club.
