Youngsters at Wragby Primary School will be learning about the dangers of talking to a stranger at a special lesson being held next Wednesday, October 8.
The lesson is part of the school’s ‘People Who Help Us’ programme for five-year old pupils. Police Community Support Officer Lorraine Dawson from the town’s Neighbourhood Policing Team will be delivering the lesson.

“It’s really important for u
s to work with teaching staff of all age groups, but the younger we can introduce youngsters to the police, the better chance we have to impress upon them that we are here to help them,” explained PCSO Lorraine Dawson.

“The stranger danger input is vital for youngsters, not to scare them, but to simply make them aware that not all people are kind.”

The ‘stranger danger’ session is planned in for a one hour lesson during which time the children are introduced to the police and advice is given about how to deal with a situation where a person unknown to them makes an approach.

“My aim is to work with the five primary schools in my policing area and ensure all children aged five to eleven meet me, or one of my team,” said PCSO Dawson.

“The Headteacher of Wragby Primary School is very supportive and keen to meet officers from across the sector, including dog handlers, road traffic officers and others who have an important role in policing the local community.”
