RASEN Mail food columnist and popular TV chef Rachel Green has received this year's CLA Award for Outstanding Contribution and Achievement for British Food.
It was presented to her by William Worsley, Vice-President of the Country Landowners and Business Association at last week’s Belvoir Castle Game Fair where she showcased her favourite game cooking recipes under the banner A Game Bird.
“I am completely overcome,” says Rachel, “it came totally out of the blue and when I heard that Caroline Countess of Cranbrook, whom I revere, had received it before, I was even more thrilled.”
Rachel has worked tirelessly for numerous campaigns such as Yes Peas!, Great British Carrots, British Asparagus, UK Shallots, as well as promoting British game and now the Traditional Farm-Fresh Turkey Association. Among several titles that she holds, she is also Official Champion for Tastes of Lincolnshire and Ambassador for Select Lincolnshire.
“This award means a huge amount,” says Rachel. “My family have farmed in Lincolnshire for 14 generations, and to me, the award is also for all the amazing British farmers and food producers who work so hard and with such skill and passion.”
