A MEETING is being held tonight, Wednesday, in a bid to thrash out a solution to the threat to remove residential wardens from pensioners living in sheltered housing.
As revealed by the Mail a month ago, Acis wants to alter its service for older people by taking wardens away from bases like Lammas Leas and Braemar Close and spreading them wider into the community to only attend people whose needs have been assessed.

County Councillor Ken Bridger and residents’ representative Andrew Morrison, whose mother will be affected at Lammas Leas, meet Tony McGinty, county council officer in charge of the supporting people programme and who must agree to changes before they can be implemented.

He was forced to back down from his initial support after the council demanded full and considered consultation of residents.

“We will hopefully thrash out this business of removing residential wardens and get a definite answer to what’s happening,” said Coun Bridger.
