YET another design fault has been revealed at the Keir Homes development off Gallamore Lane - just two weeks after The Mail revealed that parts of a public open space had been sold off to homeowners as part of their gardens.
Stan Headley, who bought his house in Fern Drive on the estate in May 2006, has discovered that his next door neighbour's side path runs through part of his own front garden.
"Managers from Alison Homes (as it then was) visited me and said that n
ext door had been built the wrong way round, which had caused the problem. The path should have been on the other side of their house but in fact runs between their house and mine and over part of my garden.
"I could, in theory, build a fence along my boundary, which would block their path and stop them being able to get their wheelie bin out."
Mr Headley is now starting legal proceedings against Kier Homes.
* In our June 18 edition, we revealed that at least three homeowners of houses in The Brambles on the estate, had been sold land as part of their gardens which was designated in the approved plans as a public open space. There have also been fences erected by Kier Homes preventing free access to the public open space. One house was built so that the new owner could not get at her front door without crossing over her next door neighbour's front garden and Kier Homes had to be build a footpath just for her out into a designated protected wildlife area so she could get to her front door.
A spokesperson for Kier Homes said: "This development is to be taken over by Twigden Homes. In the near future, Twigden will be able to deal with any issues in direct consultation with householders individually."
However, the Twigden Homes website makes it clear that it is, in fact, part of Kier Homes Residential Ltd.
