WELL KNOWN local farmer and joint master of the Burton Hunt, John Lockwood, is the new High Sheriff of Lincolnshire.
Mr Lockwood, who stepped down as treasurer of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society this year to focus on his year in office, also manages an extensive farming estate based at Cammeringham, north of Lincoln.

He steps into an office that is at least 1000 years old, with roots in Saxon times before the Norman Conquest but in today's society is principally ceremonial with involvement particularly in judicial matters and youth initiatives.
He succeeds Jane Ware from Bassingham and follows on closely from Roger Douglas at Cuxwold.

Chris Hunter the senior partner of Lincoln law firm, Andrew & Co has taken over from Andrew Wylde as under sheriff of Lincolnshire. His primary task is to assist the high sheriff in carrying out his duties, particularly in connection with the High Court Sittings held in Lincoln each year.
