MARKET RASEN New Life Church ran Olympic-style activity days for children aged 7-11 during their summer holidays at The Bell playing field under the title 'Go For Gold'.

Seven 'nations' with 47 children took part in craft, song and dance, as well as events from athletics to kayaking, where the children even designed their own boats to race in.

There was also a special visit from a marathon runner who presented the results and medals were presented by Town Mayor Burt Keimach on the final day to bronze medallists Kenya and India, silver to Chile and gold to Japan.

The activities encouraged the children to work as a team and Paul Hiley, Pastor of New Life said: "We attempted to teach the Christian faith in word and deed".

Rhona Sheppard, main organiser of the event, praised the children who were 'magnificent'.

"The children don't have to wait until next year: 'X Stream Team' for ages 7-11 resumes the second week in September as does 'On Track' for ages 11-14," she said.
