ONE OF Market Rasen's most reliable sources of good home-baked fair, cake and comforts is coming up for its 30th birthday.

The Market Rasen Country Market started out in September 1978 as the WI Market with a stall on the Market Place and since 1984 it has been in St Thomas' Church Rooms offering refreshments as well as preserves, produce and crafts made by members.

The Country Market is a co-operative business and maintains its strong links with the WI, taking its stall to several events throughout the year.

It trades in Market Rasen's church room each Friday from 8.30am to noon.

The celebrate the landmark on Friday, September 12, customers old and new are invited to share in a cake to be cut around 10.30am.

It is hoped that some of the original producers will be present and new stallholders who can produce home baking and preserves, craft items, fruit, vegetables and plants of good quality are welcome to join in.
