'IRONMAN' Stuart Parker, a butcher at Market Rasen Co-op, has handed over almost £3,000 in sponsorship, much of it raised from Co-op customers, to the Air Ambulance, after completing an Ironman challenge in July.
Stuart, who is an experienced marathon runner, completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bicycle ride and 26.2 mile run in 14 hours 29 minutes over the course in the New Forest.

Vivienne Chambers of the Air Ambulance, said it was ‘brilliant’ Stuart had raised such a ‘fantastic sum of money’.

Stuart, who is also a retained fireman, gave a ‘very big thank-you’ to all his friends, work colleagues and customers who had supported him since January on his personal challenge.

“Also a very big thank-you to everyone who sponsored me or donated through his collections to raise this brilliant amount for a very worthwhile cause,” he said.

“Also many thanks for my support crew over the weekend of the event. I coudn’t have done it without you.”

* Besides Stuart’s efforts, Lincolnshire Co-op’s fundraising for the Air Ambulance this year has so far raised more than £42,000.
