STUDENTS at De Aston School have been recreating centuries old art in a project to brighten up corridors in the Art department leading to the school's boarding house.
Art teacher Kirsty Dring said the department had won a bursary to have an artist in residence.
"We have chosen to work with a graffiti artist called James Mayle who has started to work with students to create an art timeline," she said.
Now Year 10 students have produced a series of replica cave paintings and Year 8 students are in the process of recreating ancient Egyptian murals and hieroglyphics along another stretch of wall.
"This is good because it involves everyone," said Kirsty "and everyone is hands-on."
The type of murals to be recreated in the next stage of the project has yet to be decided.
