This photograph, printed some years ago in the Rasen Mail after being lent to us by Mrs J W
Walsham, showing Market Rasen Co-operative
Society’s Union Street store between the wars.

At that time, Mr J G Gadsby was the manager.

The Rasen store was one of the biggest to be built by the Lincoln Society and there is reason to believe that as Rasen gradually lost its industries, the Co-op committee at Lincoln came to regret they had built here on quite a such spacious lines.

A later committee took the step of reorganising on more modern lines by buying the old town hall.
