Rotarians raise record sum to help good causes

DONATIONS amounting to almost £5,000 have been given to charities by a Horncastle group.

Horncastle Rotary Club has said it has given more to local and international charities in the past year than ever before.

President, Margaret Sergeant, said: “We are a small club with a big heart and we are pleased to be able to help others less fortunate than ourselves, whether in the local community or around the world. We are grateful to the people of Horncastle for their support.”

Beneficiaries include Shelterbox, Lincolnshire Bat Group, Tanzanian Rural Relief, Lifestraws, Pakistan Flood Relief, the Rotary Shoebox Scheme and St Barnabas Hospice.

The club has also spent money on local community projects and has been involved in the Horncastle Tree of Light project, Horncastle Summer Craft Market, Senior Citizens’ Christmas Concert, Horncastle Christmas Street Market, the Rotary Disabled Games, Stroke Awareness Day, Carrington Steam Rally and Horncastle Rotary Bridge Day.

Members have also conducted mock interviews for Banovallum School pupils.
