MARKET Rasen Gardening Club hosted the annual three-way quiz in the town’s Festival Hall recently.

The event saw teams from Woodhall Spa, Market Rasen and East Barkwith battle it out for the title and the chance to be the first winners of the newly donated Silver Salver trophy, donated by Dr Nick Duke-Cox of Woodhall Spa.

Chairman of the Market Rasen club Cecile Povey acted as quiz master, ably assisted by husband Laurie as scorer, and with ten rounds in total, six team and four individual, there was plenty to entertained the 100-strong audience.

And at the end of the quiz things couldn’t have been closer, with the Woodhall Spa team winning on 28 points, just ahead of Market Rasen and Woodhall Spa who were in joint second on 27 points.

Team members were: Woodhall Spa - Margaret Smith, Pearl Elston and Liz Gilliland; Market Rasen - Katherine Drake, Margaret Allerston and Sue Donaldson; East Barkwith - Laura Pearce, Sheila Minns and Kate Wright.

The trophy was presented to the winning team by Marion Cooper, a long standing member of Market Rasen Gardening Club.

Grateful thanks go to the many town businesses who provided prizes for the raffle.
