MEMBERS of the 2nd Market Rasen cub pack have been looking at keeping safe for their latest badge.

The youngsters went along to Market Rasen Library, where staff members Mel Fenwick and Kathy Perry helped them identify potential hazards in living room and kitchen as part of their Home Safety Badge.

“It was very kind of the library staff to invite us down to help the cubs complete their badge work,” said pack Akela Maggie Collinson.

“It is always good to work with other community groups and as the library is a main centre for information, we are pleased to work with them.

The cubs work on a number of badges throughout the year and have recently been looking to the skies to complete their astronomy badge.

They will also be competing in a draughts competition with other packs in the district.

Next for the cubs though is the popular karting competition with the Gainsborough District Association.

However, first of all the pack has to build four karts to use in the event.

At present hey are looking for old fashioned pram wheels or small cycle wheels to help with this project.

“This is always a great event and something the cubs, and parents, really enjoy,” added Akela.

“We would be grateful to receive any wheels that may be suitable.”

Anyone who has any wheels that they think may be suitable or would like to know more about the Market Rasen scouting groups can contact Akela on 07946 715906.
