With two long-standing leaders set to retire, things looked bleak for the youngsters, as organisers had tried in vain to find replacements.
But the newspaper appeal worked, which perhaps explains the smiles on the faces of the Cubs pictured.
The group took on three more leaders, which saved the group from having to fold.
