DESPITE several acts of vandalism and appalling weather conditions, it was reported back in 2001 that Market Rasen had a generally peaceful start to the year.

The town’s police inspector Dave Robinson said that generally ‘people had behaved themselves’.

The town’s Christmas tree, however, failed to escape the attention of vandals, who removed light bulbs and damaged the tree itself.
