In this centenary year of the outbreak of The Great War, South Willingham is erecting a new war memorial to honour the men of the Parish who gave their lives during the conflict.

The memorial, in the form of a substantial brass plaque, will honour the five men of the village who died during The Great War.

The Service of Commemoration for the plaque will be held in St Martin’s Church this Sunday, November 23, starting at 6pm.

And in addition to representatives from the Royal British Legion, the Lincolnshire Regiment and a bugler from Market Rasen Town Band, organisers hope to also have people present who have links to at least two of the men being honoured.
