Millie takes national dairy prize after trampling the competition

AN 18-year-old Young Farmer from Horncastle has been crowned champion in a national competition.

Millie Shipley was chosen to represent Lincolnshire Young Farmer’s Club at the National Final of the Intermediate Dairy Stock Judging competition.

The competition was held at the Great Yorkshire show where she competed against the top stock judgers from across England and Wales. Millie was placed joint first in the intermediate category taking home the JS Clarke Perpetual Challenge Cup.

All members of Lincs YFC have the opportunity to learn all about Stock Judging as part of the county programme of events.

The rally competition day hosts Dairy, Sheep, Beef and Pig Judging along with Hound and Hunter Judging.

Several training events a year are organised by the stock county coordinator – Barry Holden, which members can attended to learn how to look at the animals and how to give reasons for where they have placed them.
