At the October open meeting, Jannette Merilion gave an excellent talk with slides entitled Birds, Bees and Butterflies.

She explained how a garden devoid of trees and plants would not entice wild life.

Butterflies need open flat flowers, like the daisy family, to enable them to get to the nectar, Birds need grubs for food and even the starlings have a role to play eating the leather jackets in the lawn.

The next meeting will be on November 14 in Middle Rasen Church Hall at 7.30pm, when the speaker will be Lorna Bennett on the subject of “Folk Law.”
