Speaker at the January meeting was Brian Oxborrow and his subject ‘Bees’.
Mr Oxborrow is well known locally because he is a warden at Linwood LWT nature reserve and is also a member of the group that look after Market Rasen railway station, both gardening and painting.
He started by saying he usually talks to 9-10-year-old school children - and went on to say we would be starving without bees because half of what we eat relies on pollination.
After the talk, everyone was given a hand out of plants to grow which attract bees.
Four visits have been arranged for the summer and the details will be distributed next month.
An invitation has been given to Middle Rasen Horticultural Society for the next meeting on February 25, when there will also be a buffet.
The speaker will be Loretta Rivett and her subject ‘A Lincolnshire Entertainment’.
All meetings are held in the School Room at the Methodist Church in Nursery Street on the fourth Tuesday of the month, starting at 7.15pm.
