The 1st Binbrook (RAF) Scouts and Cubs got their Bob-a-Job week in 1979 off to a flying start as this picture from the Market Rasen Mail archive shows.

Their first task was to give this Lightning aircraft of No 5 Squadron at the RAF base a wash down.

The eight scouts and 22 cubs spent the morning performing a routine clean of the aircraft and they were sponsored by the Officers’ Mess, Sergeants’ Mess, Corporals’ Club and the Buff Lodge on the station.

Wing Commander Michael Graydon presented them with a cheque for £60, which they were going to use to help buy new camping equipment.
