Tablers lending their support to emergency blood bike service
MARKET Rasen Round Table are supporting a new life-saving service.
At their recent meeting, members of the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS) spoke about their new voluntary organisation which plans to provide a free out-of-hours emergency service to hospitals and NHS trusts.
The group has already recruited more than 180 expressions of interest to provide this out-of-hours service to transport any thing from blood to breast milk to and from hospitals across the county.
“We have already begun to raise awareness of this current lack of free provision in this vital area and have recently been granted full charity status through the Charities Commission,” said a spokesman for LEBBS.
And when members of the Round Table heard what the group was hoping to achieve, they agreed to donate £500 to the cause.
“They are very enthusiastic, dedicated to the task and proud of what they are doing,” said Round Table chairman Andrew Lyle.
LEBBS plans to go live in April 2013, so is now working to raise the necessary funds for equipment and on going costs.
