The winning Hansard House with judge Clare Russell (Lin)

Music filled Caistor town hall as the Grammar School battled it out in the house music competition.

First up were the junior grammar school students, who played their instruments and sang beautifully competition.

Hansard won the instrument solo, vocal solo, piano duet and the instrumental group, while Ayscough won the vocal group.

The final score was Hansard 92, Ayscough 88 and Rawlinson 87.

The following day, it was time for the seniors to take to the stage.

Ayscough won the instrumental solo, vocal solo and instrumental group, Rawlinson won the piano duet and the vocal group, while Hansard won the band section.

This meant it was Ayscough who were the overall winners on 111, with Hansard in second place on 107 and Rawlinson third with 106.

The total score overall was Hansard 199 and Ayscough 199 in joint 1st and Rawlinson 193 in 3rd place.

Judge Clare Russell who studied music at Birmingham Conservatoire said of the junior competition: “I am amazed how the standard has improved over the years.

“It has been a difficult decision to decide between the individuals and groups and it was a really close competition.”
