Something fishy going on at WEA

During the 19th Century, Grimsby grew to become the world’s premier fishing port.

How did this happen? Why was Grimsby the perfect place for the industry? Who were the people who came to the town to work in the industry and the many who risked their lives in the North Sea and the Arctic?

These and other questions will be answered at an afternoon school, run by Nettleton WEA on Saturday, Match 9.

Tutor Dr Stephen Bloy, will focus on the migration of fishermen and their families to the town and the hardship they endured as Grimsby grew and prospered in Victorian England.

Entry £6, including afternoon tea; details 01472 859347.
