Rasen’s Big Picture coming in to full view

The challenge to create Market Rasen’s largest ever community picture has started with a vengeance.

Following the initial request in The Rasen Mail for fabric, many bags of all different kinds of material have been donated and over the past two weeks around 1,000 fabric squares have been cut out and templates have been drawn onto them.

The squares are now available in participating shops around the town, who will be displaying posters in their windows.

Linda Patrick, organiser of The Big Picture is asking for as many residents of the area to pop into one of the shops, pick up a template, take it home and decorate it.

“You do not have to be great at sewing,” said Linda, “It can be either sewn, or painted, or quilted, or just pop stickers on it.

“The key is for us to get as many flowers back, in order to create a really big picture that involves thousands of people living in Market Rasen.

Children are being encouraged to decorate leaves which will go on six big trees within the picture.

Linda would still like to hear from crafters wanting to help create the larger elements of the picture and anyone who has any plain fabric to donate. Contact her on 01673 842249.
