Outdoor learning at teacher’s event

THE Forestry Commission has announced an outdoor learning conference for teachers in the area interested in running outdoor classes.

Held at Chambers Farm Wood on Tuesday October 23 from 9am to 3.30pm, ‘Beyond the Classroom’ workshops will be held to give teachers or those working with children in an outdoor setting the chance to see what’s on offer in the woods.

The partnership between the Outdoor Learning Consultancy and the Forestry Commission will give visitors the opportunity to try shelter building, creative play, food and medicine from the woods, natural science, willow weaving and green woodworking.

The conference will be suitable for SEN, KS1, 2 and 3 teachers.

The cost is £40 for a first delegate, £20 for a second delegate, and there will be discounts for NQT’s and students.

To book contact either Hannah Darcel on 07789 942599 or hannah.darcel@forestry.gsi.gov.uk or Caroline Carr on 07775 596160.
