Mariessa gets her food certificate

MARIESSA Jackson, a cook at residential home Waterloo House in Market Rasen, has been celebrating achieving her Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene.

She was one of 16 candidates who received their certificates at a presentation ceremony at the Guildhall in Gainsborough.

Chief Executive Duncan Sharkey congratulated the successful students saying that it was important that everyone was safe when they were eating food in the district.

"This is the first time we have run this course ourselves, and I am sure we will build on its success," he said.

To win the award, candidates had to undertake seven hours of training and pass a one hour multiple-choice test at the end of it.

Subjects covered included avoiding food poisoning, bacteriology, contamination, pest control, and cleaning and disinfecting.

Another course is already booked for February, and a third event is likely to follow in March.

If you are interested in attending a food hygiene course or a foundation in health and safety scheduled for April, please contact Sue Alderman on (01427) 675114.
