‘Kryten’ on the airwaves

RED Dwarf and Scrapheap Challenge star Robert Llewellyn is heading to Lincoln this week to take part in a special radio broadcast in front of a live audience.

The Reading Room LIVE will be broadcast from Lincoln Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, May 12 and will feature up-and-coming writers, poets and musicians.

Hosted by Paul Tyler and produced by Jonny Haw, the programme will be transmitted live on community radio station Siren 107.3FM.

The centrepiece of the show will be an in-depth interview with Robert Llewellyn, best known for his role as the robot Kryten in sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf, which is due to return to our screens with a brand new series later this year.

Robert will be talking about his career as an actor, presenter and comedian, and discussing his writing – in particular, the publication of his new science fiction novel, News From Gardenia.

Other names confirmed for the show include poet and author John Osborne, actress and author Abigail Tarttelin, and some specially-selected spoken word talent from Lincolnshire – and local singer/songwriter Michael Reeve will provide some music.

Reading Room host Paul Tyler said: “We broadcast The Reading Room every month on Siren 107.3FM from the comfort of our studio, but this is only the second time we’ve ventured onto the stage.

“We’re really excited to be bringing Robert Llewellyn to Lincoln for this special event, as well as providing a platform for some lesser-known performers.”

The event starts at 7.30pm; tickets are available now for £5 from the LPAC box office, or to buy online simply follow the links from www.readingroom.podbean.com .
