KIDS GET FAME WITH WORKSHOP PRODUCTION

The annual summer workshop from Louth Playgoers guarantees to impress the audiences who line up to catch the latest offering.

Young and committed performers are being put through their paces in preparation for this year's production, where they learn, challenge and develop all singing, acting and dancing techniques and get the opportunity to experience a slice of professional musical theatre, as well as produce a knockout show of solid entertainment.

Last year, the group performed Godspell to high acclaim and this year they're tackling Fame, promising a fun-packed evening of drama, comedy, music from classical to rap and dance ranging from ballet to jazz.

The story, written by Jose Fernandez and based on a concept by David DeSilva, follows the students at New York's School of the Performing Arts through their four-year course.

We see them coming to terms with life and relationships: we see those who persevere, who are resilient - and those who are not. Above all, we see them perceiving the need to strive for excellence.

The score contains such classics as Think of Meryl Streep, I Want to Make Magic and, of course, Fame!

The entire production is cast and staged within just two weeks, including three performances this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 5, 6 and 7, at Louth's Riverhead Theatre at 7.30pm nightly.

Standard tickets cost 7, with under 18s 4.60. To book tickets call the box office on 01507 600350
