Going mad for books at library tea party

THINGS went a little bit mad at Market Rasen Library on Saturday as part of a national celebration.
Across the country, libraries were putting on special events to show the importance of libraries to local communities.
And at Market Rasen it was time for a Mad Hatter’s tea party.
Based on the classic story by Lewis Carroll, cultural services advisors Kathy Perry and Mel Fenwick took on the roles of the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit.
They also encouraged visitors of all ages to have a game of table croquet, created especially for the event by Stan Perry and Dean Callaway of Smudged.
“It is good to have events like this to raise the profile of our libraries as important centres for the whole community,” said site co-ordinator Karen Waring, who was dressed as Alice.
Refreshments were also available for visitors thanks to the town’s Co-op and Tesco stores.
Similar events were held at Welton and Keelby libraries.
