Focussing in on glass

GLASS is the focus of this month’s exhibition at Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre – 28 Plough Hill.
Having created large-scale pieces for the likes of the Chelsea Flower Show, the Caistor venue is a far more intimate setting for artist Gillian Hobson.
It is the first time Gill has mounted an exhibition in the building and her display of glass work on a smaller domestic scale is set off to its full potential in the exhibition area of the building.
“It is a lovely space with very good light – a perfect area,” she said.
Based at the Ropewalk Studios in Barton upon Humber, Gill’s work is concerned with the dynamic relation of people, place and space, and the ways in which this relation may be explored, communicated and constructed through artmaking.
As an artist, researcher and creative consultant, she works independently and collaboratively across a variety of media and contexts, through installation, three-dimensional form and site-specific works.
Works range from highly-decorative objects, created intuitively and rooted in craft practice, to research-led investigative projects.
The Caistor exhibition will be on display until Sunday, September 30 and entry is free.
