Fast-paced show at hall
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists opens the new season of plays and events at Tealby.
THE NEW season of plays and events at Tealby Village Hall starts this month.
After receiving rave notices from the national press for its Edinburgh Festival run, Townsend Productions bring their new adaptation of Robert Tressell’s novel The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists to the village as part of the Lincolnshire Rural & Community Touring programme.
This hilarious, face-paced show follows a year in the life of a group of painters and decorators as they renovate a three-storey town house for Mayor Sweater.
Tracing their struggle for survival in a complacent and stagnating Edwardian England, these workers are the ‘philanthropists’ who throw themselves into back-breaking work for poor wages to generate profit for their masters. The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists will be at Tealby Village Hall on Sunday September 23 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 on the door or £9 in advance from Tealby Village Shop, call 01673 838718 or 838571.
