Homework doesn't have to be boring: Kyle Kavanagh, Alexander Riley and Jenna-Lea Portess Caistor Yarborough homework exhibition

STUDENTS at Caistor Yarborough School are showing homework doesn’t need to be boring.

And now the talented youngsters from years seven, eight and nine will be showcasing their talents at their debut exhibition of Unique Homework Projects.

For their homework projects, all the pupils receive is a title or key word and then the rest is up to them.

“The projects have proved hugely successful with imaginative and thoughtful outcomes,” said Jeni Lowe, community co-ordinator for Caistor Yarborough Academy.

“Such a fantastic response deserves to be shared with the community at large.”

The homework project doesn’t restrict the pupils to one subject area, in fact the projects are aimed at giving them an understanding of cross-curriculum links.

“Students really enjoy doing the homework projects as it becomes very personal to them,” added Jeni.

“Mrs Fowler, our leader of extended learning, and I have been selecting work that has been recommended by tutors.

“There is such a variety of high standard work in different formats, which shows how unique the whole idea is.

“The exhibition promises to be different.”

Next Tuesday, May 15, from 6pm to 8pm, students and staff will host a preview of the exhibition, which is being held in the Artlandish gallery at The Discovery Centre in King’s Road, Cleethorpes.

The exhibition officially opens to the general public the following day, May 16, and will run until Tuesday, May 29.
