Louth Choral Society present Best of British

A MUSICAL celebration of the Best of British will be performed by Louth Choral Society at their annual summer concert.

Including excerpts from My Fair Lady along with George Shearing’s Music To Hear, Stanford’s Songs of the Fleet and arrangements of English folk songs, the concert will be held in St James’s Church, Louth, on Sunday, July 1.

The choir will be conducted by Martin Pickering and accompanied on the piano by Antony Pinel.

Also performing will be the Louth Junior Choir conducted by Kate Witney, and the guest soloist will be the British-born Serbian bass-baritone Bozidar Smiljanic.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

For the first time at a Louth Choral Society concert there will be refreshments available, with the cost of a glass of wine or fruit juice included in the purchase price of a programme.

Tickets – priced £10 for centre seats, under 18s £5, and £7 for side isles, under 18s free of charge – are on sale now from Eve & Ranshaw in Louth and the Caxton Theatre Ticket Office in Grimsby Library. They can also be reserved by phoning 01507 463410 or online at www.louthchoral.co.uk .

Louth Choral Society’s newly-released CD recording, entitled Wings of a Dove – featuring music by Mendelssohn, Samuel Sebastian Wesley and the first ever recording with brass accompaniment of Carl Rutti’s Three Carols – will be on sale at the concert.
