Charity peddles cycling club idea
MARKET Rasen Round Table members hope the launch of a new club will wheelie take off.
Having raised thousands of pounds in the last five years on sponsored cycle rides, the Round Table has now started a cycling club for the town.
Chairman Ian Fisher said: “Over the last five years our charity has been able to raise a lot of money through sponsored cycle rides - London to Paris and coast to coast.
“However, it’s not just being about raising money. We enjoy cycling and riding with each other as a group. We have even had new members join us because of the rides we have done.”
The new club will initially meet in the Market Place, Market Rasen, on Sunday mornings at 8.30am.
There will be two groups - one which will cover around 40 miles and another which will take a more leisurely pace around the countryside and try to avoid the hills.
It is hoped to develop the club over the next 12 months using some Round Table funds to create a sustainable club for the community, open to members and non-members alike.
