Book now to get your hands on Carousel tickets

TICKETS are now on sale for the Brigg Amateur Operatic Society production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel.

It runs from Tuesday, October 30 to Saturday, November 3 with curtain up at 7.30pm nightly and at 2.30pm for the Saturday matinée.

The venue is Westmoor Hall, The Vale Academy, in Grammar School Road. Tickets cost £7, Saturday matinée £6.

The show is based on the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnar, as adapted by Benjamin F Glazer. The story revolves around an ill-fated love affair between a fairground barker, Billy Bigelow, and a naive young girl, Julie Jordan, who works in the local mill. They marry but both lose their jobs.

As in so many Rodgers and Hammerstein shows there is a bitter-sweet ending.

Simon Percy continues as the society’s musical director and Jo Hageman is choreographer. Guy Hageman and Rick Marshall continue as sound and lighting experts and this year the show is directed by Maggie Brader.

“We are pleased to introduce Pam Godwin and Alan Bomberg, who step up from being members of the back stage crew to be joint stage managers,” said society chairman Peter Barnes.

The cast is headed by Lindsey Pepper, making his debut on the Brigg stage, and Katie Graham is once again the leading lady. They are supported by a strong and experienced cast including Terri-Ann Heseltine, David Arrand, Trudie Jackson, Bev Evans, Dan Busby, Ashley Bateson and Felice Malaspina.

Mr Barnes added: “Unfortunately we are not immune to ever-rising costs and we have had to make a modest increase in our prices, but I know that you will enjoy this year’s show and look forward to seeing you again shortly.”

Tickets for the show are available from Sally at Brigg Beds in Princess Street, or by calling 01652 651828.
