Bobby Ball's telling it how it is

For more leisure see this week's Market Rasen Mail - out now

There's no need to wait for the panto season to see Bobby Ball, of comedy duo Cannon and Ball, he will be coming to Market Rasen this October.

Cannon and Ball have been hailed as one of UK's funniest and most successful comedy double acts, but life was not always a joy for Bobby.

He met his comedy partner Tom when they were both welders in the same factory in Oldham.

In the 80s, when Cannon and Ball were among the most successful acts in show business, things were going badly wrong in Bobby's personal life.

He was drinking heavily, spending time with different women and getting into lots of fights. He felt like he had everything but had nothing and told a theatre chaplain he felt empty inside.

You can hear the whole story from Bobby himself on the stage of the Festival Hall on October 23, plus a load of the usual anecdotes and laughs.

Cannon and Ball are still touring the country bringing happiness and laughter to new audiences all the time, but Bobby Ball will be in Market Rasen on his own at the invitation of Market Rasen New Life who are organising and sponsoring the event.

There will be live music to begin the evening and complimentary light refreshments to close.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for people to hear this top comedian in their own town at a fraction of the usual cost, but there are only 200 seats available," said organiser Paul Hiley.

Tickets cost 5, concessions 3, from Scoops and other outlets in Market Rasen on a first come first served basis.
