At the monthly meeting of Humberside International Women’s Club in Nettleton Village Hall, the guest speaker was fellow member Patricia Ridger, who gave an interesting and inspiring talk.
She told how she was encouraged in early life by her parents who said if something interested her, ‘give it a go’ , which she has certainly done.
Patricia has travelled the world with her sea captain husband, lived for six years in the Sultanate of Oman where her husband was a ship’s pilot and embraced life wherever she travelled to.
On returning to live in Lincolnshire, she became fascinated by gliding and has progressed through all the training stages until she is now an Instructor and Flight Examiner.
Recently she organised a 10-day Gliding Competition at Pocklington.
She also said how being introduced to the HIWC had made a big difference to her life, especially in the early days of her return to the area - making new friends and also meeting people who were from abroad and found it lonely being away from their home and friends.
The club’s next monthly meeting will be in Nettleton Village Hall on October 17 at 10am, when there will be a Bargain Hunt Auction.
