This was the question asked by Gail Summerfield from Winterton Nurseries when she invited members of Middle Rasen Horticultural Society to take a look at other people’s front gardens as part of her very interesting talk, based on the Gale Search BBC television programme Front Gardens.

But instead of television cameras, Gail used photographs taken by her husband John; many taken early in the morning around their village so as not to alarm their neighbours, however, he recalled being approached by a lady in her dressing gown.

The gardens shown ranged from very grand with sweeping drives, beautiful country cottages, modest bungalows and houses, with traditional layouts, unusual paved gardens through to London town houses with ideas on design, high and low maintenance planting plus so much more.

The evening was most enjoyable and left everyone thinking “What does my front garden look like?”

The next meeting is on February 12 at 7.30pm in the Middle Rasen Church Hall, when Tich Rivet will be talking on Gardening Through The Year, then and now.

Admission is £1, including refreshments, and all are welcome.
