Golfers on par for mayoral visit

This week, we head back to 1960 when members of Market Rasen Golf Club were raising money for the Friends of Lincoln Hospitals’ Association.

And their Stapleford competition raised £30 for the cause – around £500 in today’s money.

Pictured above are the golf club members with the mayor of Lincoln, Coun E J Richardson, who presented the trophy, which had been given by the association for the annual competition, to the winner of the event, Mr P G Sharpe.

The mayor said he was pleased to visit his home town on a day which always figured in the calendar of Bygone Rasen as Feast Sunday.
