Gardeners have spring in step

AT THE March meeting of Market Rasen Gardening Club, the speaker was Don Witton of Sheffield, who gave a very enjoyable slide show about Euphorbias and other spring flowering perennials.

Don was well qualified on his subject, as he has the national collection of Euphorbias, and as well as providing useful information his talk was peppered with humour and anecdotes.

Schedules were given out for the Spring Show, on March 27, and members were reminded of the annual three-way quiz, with East Barkwith and Woodhall Spa Clubs, which will be held in the Festival on Friday, March 30 at 7.30pm, when all supporters will be welcome.

Four coach trips have been organised for the summer, beginning with a visit to Shepherd’s Hey and Woodlands near Louth, on June 12.

On July 4, there will be a visit to Easton Walled Gardens near Grantham, then on August 9, the destination will be Breezy Knees Garden, near York, and, finally, on September 14 it will be off to the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show.
