A FLU bug which “decimated” attendances at Market Rasen schools was making the headlines in 1989.

The Rasen Mail reported that the town was one of the worst hit areas for the illness with hundreds of children from the primary school and De Aston missing class.

The bug was thought to be a new strain of flu and was the worst outbreak of illness Market Rasen had seen in 15 years.

Even more nostalgia in Wednesday’s Market Rasen Mail.
