AT the May meeting of Market Rasen Flower Club, the audience learned how to design with a difference.

Guest demonstrator Vanessa Wellock, who had travelled from Ilkley in Yorkshire, brought with her plant material from her own woodland garden, along with many beautiful flowers, some she had grown herself.

The design pictured with Vanessa was arranged on a tall glass vase. In the bottom was a sphere covered in moss, with just one lily placed in it.

The top placement included Solomon’s Seal, ferns, just some of many from Vanessa’s garden, pale blue delphiniums, pink peonies and a fabulous pink lily called Double Surprise.

Club chairman Jo Wilson thanked members Robin Leak, Shirley Cudbertson and Claire Marris, who had arranged flowers at the Poplars Care Home in Market Rasen for the Royal Wedding celebrations, and congratulations were given to Cecile Povey, Gina Waite and Sandra Rossington, who entered and gained places at the Newark County Show.

The monthly competition was won by a new member, Nikki East.
