Rasen teachers Brian and Vera Tasker were getting used to local life again in 1989 having spent the previous year in Australia, as part of a group of Lincolnshire teachers who exchanged with Australian teachers as part of the bicentennial celebrations.

The couple experienced blistering temperatures of up to 43 degrees C, violent storms with hail stones the size of golf balls, a resident koala in the garden and sunbathing snakes.
